Australian review of the Hyperice Vyper 2.0

The Hyperice Vyper 2.0 is a premium foam roller that has the same shape and size of a regular foam roller, but the Vyper 2.0 includes a decisive enhancement: It embeds an advance vibration technology developed by its manufacturer HYPERICE… and this changes everything!

Athletes are always striving for better ways to improve their mobility and flexibility, it is crucial for them to relieve all sorts of pain and discomfort caused by their fitness-related activities. Foam rolling has been around for a long time to help support fascia mobility and break up scar tissue. Foam rolling not only decrease recovery time but will also protect athletes from any potential injuries.

Today’s technology made it possible to incorporate smart innovations in foam rollers which take the foam rolling experience to the next level. The Hyperice Vyper 2.0’s efficiency is based on its very innovative technology and it has been leading the industry in Australia and around the Globe.

I’ve been foam rolling at home ever since I learned about its benefits, and every foam roller I tried seemed to be doing the same to my body as it’s priors…but that is not the case with the Hyperice Vyper 2.0, this article will help you understand exactly why this advanced foam roller is a must have.

What is the Hyperice Vyper 2.0?

The Hyperice Vyper 2.0’s vibration technology is definitely HYPERICE’s flagship. It is powerful enough to increase blood circulation and improve flexibility more effectively than any regular foam roller would. Of course, you’d still have to put in the work of applying pressure to the targeted area (the part we hate the most about foam rolling) but the good thing is that it will not take you forever to feel the results!

The specificity of the Vyper 2.0 has made it a very popular device on the market due to its high-quality build, scientifically proven results and the fact that many professional athletes use it, including the one and only Kobe Bryant!

So what is this product like?

Besides doing what a regular foam roller should do, the Hyperice Vyper 2.0 offers 3 different vibrating settings which allow you to have full control over the intensity of your massages. This device comes in dual smooth /grooved exterior, the exterior’s material is specifically chosen to allow maximum transmission of vibrations into your muscles which will boost up circulation and promote a faster relief from pain associated with myofascial release.

The Hyperice Vyper 2.0 is powered by an integrated lithium-ion battery that will last you 2 hours per charge which is perfect for most athletes, as a typical foam rolling session wouldn’t last more than 20 minutes (Maybe 30 minutes for the most hardcore among us!). So you have 4 to 6 foam rolling sessions per charge. The Vyper 2.0 has the same compact shape/size as a regular foam roller, and even though it’s a bit heavier due to the built-in electronics, the weight does not affect its portability and it can still fit in your gym bag or backpack allowing you to take it anywhere with you effortlessly.

Hands on the Vyper:

Laiachi, one of our Australian users of the Vyper 2.0 has done this review for Back To Sport:

“Just like many other users before me, I am amazed by the quality of the built, the advanced technology and the amazing results promised by HYPERICE, so I decided to test their product myself.

I will agree that the Vyper 2.0 is not a cheap product, but I immediately understood that the high price point was justified as soon I got the roller between my hands. So without further due let me share my experience with this product:

1- Un-boxing:

The Vyper 2.0 came in a small box with a user manual, a charger and that’s it! Just the essential.

2 - First impression:

First, I would like to note how small this foam roller is, I can easily hold it with one hand and the 1.3 kg seems like nothing to me, matter of fact I actually like that. I got me the plain black color and the thing looks gorgeous and very appealing to the eye.

The material used is pretty firm and I can see the dual zone surface that everyone’s been talking about, I think it’ll be perfect for both my warm-ups and post workout massages… We’ll see about that in a minute.

3 - Sparking it up:

Starting the Vyper roller was very simple, all I had to do was push the button located under the charger’s plug on the side, and then press the button located on the other side of the roller and the device instantly started vibrating, I then navigated through the 3 vibrations modes using the same button and man! That 3rd setting was very intense; I had to use both of my hands to secure the Vyper. So far so good, operating the device was super fast and simple.

4 - Testing the device:

I brought the Vyper to the gym with me and used it as a warm up to increase my blood circulation before my workout and also to loosen up this tension I’ve been having in my lower back for the past few weeks, I used the second vibration mode and it was perfect for the task.

The vibrations made the foam rolling somehow enjoyable, and the roller’s texture felt amazing (stiff but still gentle enough to be used on my bare skin), it certainly helped me activate the targeted muscles properly as my lower back started to feel good in no time!

After I finished with my workout, I went home, took some rest and had a couple meals before I decided to use Vyper again… I know, I’ve never been so excited to use a foam roller twice in a day! But my experience with this one was something else. So, I chose the first vibration mode as I wanted to go easy on my body this time, I rolled up my calves and my quads and they felt great! I could definetly sense my muscles gradually loosening up as I roll. At this point, I am already a big fan of this roller.

With that all being said, I liked how the battery life lasted through the whole day without having to recharge it, I think this feature will come in handy in many occasions, especially if I’m taking Vyper with me while traveling.

5 - What I didn’t like:

There isn’t much to criticize about the Hyperice Vyper 2.0 as it is obviously a premium foam roller and its definetly worth its price. However, the device can get really loud (especially on the 3rd vibration mode), and even though I don’t have a problem with that, many people would find it too noisy for their quiet environments.

I should also mention that this foam roller could seem to be a bit short for some people’s preferences, so you might want to keep that in mind if you’re into longer foam rollers.

Conclusion:

Despite the price tag, the benefits brought by Hyperice’s Vyper 2.0 will make you love it straight away. The vibration settings make this foam roller more versatile, comfortable and definetly more efficient for anyone’s personal massage goals.  Back To Sport highly recommend this product.
